About Last Night
We were kicking it hella hard last night on the quest to see Meli for her birthday over at Nectar. We started the night off kinda late 
(we are both minorities… black and Filipino means hella, CP time in two languages). We had to make a pit stop to pick up that goodie, goodie but after all that was brought and consumed we made our way there ready to kick ass.
Minutes after getting to the spot and one Jack on crack later, 
my second favorite band came on the stage. Enter They Live and they got crunk… after a few audio mishaps Gatsby and Bruce Illest and some dude pop locking and breaking… FUCKING KILLED IT!!! I never seen them perform live, but dudes were sick like polio in the 50’s.
After them a band that I know little about Weekend 
took the stage… the crowd got a hell-of-a lot thinner but I kept it true and became a bit of a fan. Home girl’s voice isn’t for everyone… she kinda reminds me of the first time people started to hear The Strokes… take it or leave…
After a few more Jacks on crack, Pearl Dragon and 
I smoked a few squares… my FAVORITE HIPHOP act to date (Kanye is more like pop and shit) Champagne Champagne!! They did like four new tracks… one improv track… and a fucking crazy long set. Pearl Dragon was not trying to get off the stage for shit.

There is no reason for this movie to be in the theaters… 
there is no reason for this movie to be made. I mainly wanted to see this movie to see what the Canon XH-A1 (the same camera I’m saving up to buy) could do. The whole movie was shot with this cameras, I’m assuming to cut cost… and this movie looks great, I love the ADD editing and the acid trip on redbull tempo of the film… but honestly… WHAT THE FUCK… this movie has no reason to be here.
I was going to go down to South Center and check it out, but we are in a recession… So I got my eGoons to find me a copy from “Here and There”, and I’m glad I did too. This movie is so extreme for extreme sakes. They got shoot-outs inside strip clubs with strippers getting shot in the tits and bleed out silicon and blood, Asian checks getting hit by cars crossing streets, a therapist who motivates loser with sex appeal, a gay twin brother, a club of gay gangsta, a Godzilla reenactment, nipples being cut off, a fake tv show called “Fuck you Chel-Fucking-ios”, a reanimated dead head in a fish tank, mad dead naked chick (imagine a shoot out on the set of Big Pimping), and a sex scene that is staged on the horse track with horses jumping over them… and yes I saw hard horse cock. To make it even crazier, the movie is not done yet… (ok its done and I think they might be trying to leave it open for a 3rd movie…WHAT THE FUCK)
I would get in to the plot but if you watch the trailer you know the plot. So I’ll sum it up for you, Dude from part one didn’t die and they stole his heart… now he wants his heart back, and the only way to get it is to kick ass and stay charged. To be honest I don’t think I can write any more about this movie… it has tits, blood, jokes, and more tits… This is the best B-movie I have ever seen… would I pay 12.50 to watch it??? A Fresh BreakDown - Asher Roth : Asleep In The Bread Asile *Special Review*
** Well, you may be askin', "what makes this review so special"? Well... If you don't know Asher, (Mr. I Love College), he's a pretty gifted guy. And, if you haven't noticed, he's white, also, he's made a good buzz on the industry. Now, this poor guy has to endure getting compared to Eminem every time he gets an interview, or when any guy with an opinion listens to who songs. But to Asher's credit, he's not no-where near garbage, and he's very creative. Although he has these things on his side, just because he's white, it's very UNFAIR to him to compare his 1st album or his career to Eminem's just because he's white. It's unfair to him, and it's unfair to Eminem, the topic may be intriguing t0 some, but in this review Asher Roth WILL NOT be compared to Eminem. **

It seems like almost every group is represented in Hip-hop, from the gangsters to the emo's, everyone has someone to look to. But Asher Roth appeals to a crowd that's hardly catered to, which would be the white college crowd, to be more specific, the guys. But can Mr. Roth use that creative mind of his and make it friendly for every crowd's ear? Or.. Will the CD make us sleepy as the title of his CD?
Well, most of you know about his "I Love College" joint. It's a very light-hearted track, with not much skill put to use, it's still touching on a part of social life, no one in hip hop has really visited yet. Now everyone likes to party and have fun, but when you're regular retail CD is only workin' with 12 tracks, you'd think he wouldn't waste any more of the LP with a lackluster club song. That song being "She Don't Wanna Man", or another lack-luster joint called "Blunt Cruising". I don't think it'll appeal to many except some weed heads, (actually the beat may be to fast for the weed heads, lol.) He has another fast foot tapper, being accompanied by Busta Rhymes. The fast pace beat suits Busta perfectly, so of course it sounded like he was hittin' every syllable, but Asher doesn't do a bad job himself of keeping up.
"If we go hungry... I wonder what it's like living in Hungary, yea it isn't funny but it's about to get ugly, streets turn into a game of rugby."
It also seems like Asher knows exactly how the college guy / gal feels when all that cramming gets to be to much. So he offers "La Di Da", and "Bad Day" with help from Jazze Pha, he gives a comical approach to a bad day. He goes from bad days, to a down right struggle, when he gives a story of a father (I'm thinking it's his), and how he makes sacrifices for his dreams to provide for his family. And how his dreams, basically becomes his sons dreams. But, struggle, turns into pet peeves, and Asher checks off things he thinks on what's wrong with America. "Make it rain hundreds, is it just me or is that just dumb shit? .... Poverty's our biggest problem, and it aint gonna stop with Obama, to save the world we must start at the bottom!"

And what debut CD would be without a life story? So, Asher P., kicks us some lines about how he grew up on "Fallin' ". With a sweet catchy laid back hook, and the flow (OMG it's amazing on this song), it's an easy track to fall in love with. And he dove deep into his most recent, and redudant story to him, he takes on the subject of being compared to Eminem. He confesses that Eminem was an inspiration, and basically gets on our (critics) ass about comparing him to Eminem because of the skin color and high pitched voice. He even uses a clever play on Eminem's name with the title "As I Em", accompanied by a nice rock sample, and a heavy bass line where you can see that this kinda bothers the man. "I'm constantly on the fence defending my own name, explaining that we're not the same, not much that I can say, except I'm sick of it!"
"And now the masses think that Asher wants to be a Marshall Mathers, they say Asher's not a rapper, his ass is just an actor."
Well, I'll be one of the guys to stand up for him, he's no actor, (especially after hearing that Don Cannon mixtape). Asher's definitely going to be a main-stay in this game for a long time. You kinda would wish his debut was longer, either that, or he had just alittle less party on the CD ("She Don't Wanna Man, Blunt Cruising"), especially after hearin' on what kinda topics he can touch on. More substance or not, the CD is still a great one, and it'll eat up some time in alot of people's CD players and MP3 players.

John Madden Calls it Quits. The End of an Era.
I say this with great sadness..John Madden, the greatest sports commentator of all time..(Yes, better than Hubie Brown and Marv Albert)and the creator of the Madden football juggernaut..is finally saying goodbye to the game that he has been involved with in one way, shape, or form for the last 50+ years. I guess all good things must come to an end though..ehhh. Hopefully they don't stop making Madden Football!!! EA Sports would be in a world of hurt financially, and we would all be in a world of hurt recreationally.

I’m not going to lie… Ricky Ross was my nigga (pro-black term of endearment). The whole lying about being a CO thing and 50cent taking his baby momma fur shopping and then sex-taping another baby momma… in other words 50 killed him. 50 killed him harder then he killed Ja Rule when his last CD dropped… ummm… what was the name of it……. ummmm yeah 50 killed him dead. So, I went into this lessoning of ‘Deeper Then Rap” (4/21/09) Rick’s latest effort looking for nothing at all but finding something else.
First of all let me say this… Rick Ross is dope, his music is fire and if it wasn’t for the 50 and CO thing this would be the album of the year, but if MJ didn’t play basketball what shoes would all the Asian and Black kids in America wear? Anyway, I’m just saying that it did happen so it’s not the album of the year. But for me to say that, I listened to Rick’s new album like Rick Ross was a Hollywood created character who had told tales of drug smuggling and hoe banging on a epic portion much like my man Vin Diesel as Riddick. 
Rick Ross is Riddick… If you can look at it this way then this is the dopest fucking CD out right now. His tales of sex and gangbang on a low-end BOSS level is dope as shit… Stand out tracks like “All I Really Want” feat The Dream and “Usual Suspects” are dope money, but the track “Rich of Cocaine” makes me giggle a little. Then I think wait this is the Chronicles of Riddick a.k.a Ricky Ross; I’m sure that “Ricky Ross” got rich of Cocaine and not government funding and tax returns i.e. a regular ass job.
If you can look at this as audio cinema and make believe that this character Rick Ross is just that a character, then this would be the album of the year. If you actual care about things like street credentials or if you are on a no bacon diet, then this is iPod blasphemy and deserves to be gang raped in the weight room.

So I just got word of this thing..but apparently there is a new national holiday that is garnering alot of attention. National Record Store Day! It's dedicated to the vinyls and it looks like alot of artists are already starting to back this thing, including Radiohead and DJ Babu to name a couple. Review: Asher Roth -Asleep in the Bread Aisle
I’m not going to front; I was shocked!!!! This shit sounds nothing like Marshall Mathers or anything in hip hop at the moment. After I heard “Lark on my Go-kart”, I was sure that the whole CD was going to sound like a not so “American Psycho” version of “The Slim Shady LP”, but this shit has soul. Not the soul that I’m into, but dude has soul none the less.
A.I.T.B.A sounds like it was made to be played with a live band and skittles bag mix of folks in the crowd, jumping up and down and spilling mixed drinks and Bud lights on each other. When I first heard the CD, I thought “Damn this is wack sounds nothing like Slim”. However after driving up and down I-5 all weekend, I finally put the pre-Eminem-sound that I was looking for out of my head. I was able to fully understand where this Kid was going with this effort… This SHIT IS CRACK… production sounds like shit I could smoke to, but even more like shit I could see killing a set a live. His rhyme game is wicked but that wasn’t the focus on this effort… this was to created music to kick it to… Asher E. Roth did a damn good job… please spend your bucks on this one… it’s a keeper…

You can tell when a boy becomes a man... when he can take an "L" and keep it moving. Lil Bow Wow sold some shit like 18k and it's all down hill from here for the lil pup, but hats off to the dude for making video... talking about how he took a mean ass "L"... but on the real he has a good point. BW has been in the game for ever... I mean the examples are scattered all around us...Spliff Star, Memphis Bleek, Crunchy Black, Sen Dog, etc. Not all of these guys are wack Rappers...but their own career? Yeah exactly. Memphis Bleek is the perfect example of a hype man who has been stuck in first gear since he was sayin' he'd ride with Jay for free. Does he care? Probably not since as long as Jay's alive he's a millionaire, but please believe the tag of hype man has hurt him navigating the Hip-Hop waters....."

SNSS #201 - BANG BANG!
Fresh off last week's 200th edition of SNSS, we're hitting you over the head with another dope show, this time, packed full of exclusive joints that I believe we world premiered Sunday on KUBE. In today's internet age, the traditional idea of 'exclusives' has pretty much gone out the window, and regardless, I've never even been that big a fan of the whole notion anyway. Simply because a DJ plays something first, doesn't make it worthwhile ("NEW SOULJA BOY!!!!").
Instead, this past week, we ran some great songs that the general public just hasn't heard yet, but everyone will probably have soon. Some of them will be included on our upcoming Cornerstone Mixtape (with some other exclusives), but who knows if they'll leak before that drops in May.
Speaking of which, DJ B-Mello, J. Moore, and I finished up the mixtape last night (shout to Taybot and L for the engineering assistance!) and it sounds fresh.
