Well, the self-proclaimed boss can't leave the hustle alone as you'd prolly guess. But unlike all the other bland-ass rappers tryin' to sell dope every track, he does a good job of makin' it sound good. And he even becomes humble on the soft-felt song "I'm Only Human."
And like most sophmore efforts, they flex their star power to see how many feature spots they can get.. Well, Rick Ro$$ ain't no different, he's got plenty of feature spots, from Jay-Z, to Lil' Wayne, to Nelly, and plenty others. Now it's some features we can expect him to not out-shine, matter-of-fact it's damn obvious. But he does do a good job of hangin' 'round with Jay-Z n Lil' Wayne. Well, ok, he does his best, and he doesn't bring the track down. "Maybach Music" with Jay-Z, Mr. Carter gives alotta nice slick lines. You may think the song is all about the Maybach, but it's actually more of a "I made it" kinda track. And the other Mr. Carter threw in ALOT of nice lines in "Luxury Tax", the best effort he put in a song in a while.
He had alot of features, but surprisingly, it didn't bring his album down any. Maybe that was due to good production. Of course he has Cool & Dre doin' a few tracks, but he pulls a cat-out-of-the-bag with Mannie Fresh. Mannie turns a Tony Montana line into one of those "I gotta have this in my car" kinda beats, lol.
Lot of good things to like about this album, but, no album is flawless. He has a few tracks that seemed like he pulled from the scrap heap from his last album. Even the beats sound like Young Jeezy Summer '05. I guess he calls himself tryin' to be diverse by givin' a song for the ladies on "Money Makes me Cum," but it definately wasn't tha oragasm of the song, more like the one-minute-show of the CD. And the track "Speedin' " with R.Kelly was never hittin' on much... Period.
But, I must say Ricky Ross surprised hell out of me with this album, I ain't expect much, but he came out with a better album than his last-go-round, and it's somethin' he can be proud of.
