Day Late, Dollar Short: Killer Mike's Sunday Morning Massacre

Killer Mike's been doing a Sunday Morning Massacre, dropping some religious knowledge as it pertains to real life situations (My religion views are somewhat offbeat, and we won't get into it but for people who might have been worried like me, I can fux with this.) and giving a freestyle out. So since you just watched the video, here's the freestyle:

A Fresh BreakDown - Killer Mike: I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II

Man.  I'd be so wrong if I ain't give this album the props it need.  Cuz to be honest yall, after listenin' to that Nas album, I ain't think this album would actually have me keep the Nas disc out for long.   I ain't sayin' it was gonna be a bad album, I'm jus sayin', that's a hell of a feat to over-come.  But again I WAS WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!  If you mad at the industry.  If you mad at ya boss.  If you mad at politics.  If you a Killer Mike fan.  If you a fan of real rap, this album IS FOR YOU, and it drops THIS TUESDAY!  JULY 8TH MUTHAFUCKAA!!

Anyway.  If you were around to hear Ice Cube drop Death Certificate for the 1st time, and old enough to appreciate and understand it, you'll feel the same way about this album.  Now.. When the album is cold, and you put that mu'fuckka in ya CD player (or fresh off ya download list..)  Killer Mike tells you this album wasn't made to give you a muthafuckin' cheap ass experience, lol.  But the album is to be a tool for you to motivate ya'self.  Well, it wouldn't surprise you after the lil' intro, the song comes in with a Biggie sampled beat.  Plenty of bass knockin' n raw straight to the point lyrics.  Immediately, you'll see what direction Mike is tryin' to go for the CD.

Now, although, this CD is full of good songs, he does get off track of the main topic.   Well...  Lemme take that back, it relates, but it's not like these are bad songs..  Nooo noo noo.  For example, in this Chamillionaire and Messy Marv assisted track called "Big Money Big Cars".  It's by no means a bad song, it's jus these days, who's not talkin' 'bout Big Money n Big Cars?   Or like in the track, "Can You Buy That."  The song has a relation to the CD, it stands out from the crowd as a superior song, but it blends right in the crowd as far as subject matter.  He has a few of these songs that don't stand out as far as originality, but the music is far superior to his rap peers, especially those comin' from the ATL.

On to the good stuff.  If you haven't viewed already, you probably know about the "Pressure" track where Ice Cube and Killer Mike double team "the man"...  (Insert 50 Cent growl here)  For the most part as far as the rest of the CD, Killer Mike stays on the grind.  He lets you know where his head is with lyrics like "Ya pussy goood, n ya head game is all that / But that aint half as good as me havin' another stack / She looked surprised as tears weld in her pretty eyes / She said I'm pretty Micheal, I can have any guy / I said damn right girl you're stunnin', but I'm rich bitch, I can have any woman.."  Not to mention the hook is w'sup, and the beat drowns ya ears away on "If I Can't Eat Right."  Money over anything basically would sum up the idea of the CD, so don't let the Pressure single be mis-leading.   Even though he does get his political swagg on at times throughout this CD when he's  viewed as more of an intimidator especially how he starts off "I Gotcha" with quotes like "I'm wakin' up like a grown ass man / Clutchin' My nuts, no one holdin' my hand/ Staring out his window with a rifle in hand, get my Malcom X on while I look at this van."  SHIT!  When's the last time Hip hop had that kinda aggression?

To sum it up in a nut-shell.  Killer Mike has a lot of good music on the CD.  It's jus some songs on the CD is on a topic everyone else would talk about.  But what he lacks there, he backs up with superior music and production.

Album ratin'  - 4.6 / 5
Worth Buyin' - Hell Yea
Fav Tracks     - What don't I like?  Lol.
