Soulful Sundaes: Inside a Change
Super Director Rik Cordero has finally finished his first feature-length film. And it's looking great thus far. The name of the film is Inside a Change. Here's a lil more info about the movie:
"Chris Price (Ephraim Benton) is about to serve 180 days in prison for a first-time offense. When his mother (Karen Chilton) invites him home for dinner, he finds his younger brother (Darrell Vanterpool) following in his footsteps and his older brother, Shawn (Donté Bonner) disowning him. With his family falling apart, Chris is forced to re-examine his life and how he can bring everyone together for his mother's birthday.
Three/21 Films present a feature film by Rik Cordero, starring Ephraim Benton (Push, Baby Boy) and Karen Chilton (Half Nelson). Written by Rik Cordero and Aaron F. Schnore, from a story by Rik Cordero. The executive producer is Dwight King. The film was produced by Mike Fox. The co-producers are Nancy Mitchell, Steve Carless, Brady Nields and Seth Abrams."
The film drops next month and is going to feature some DOPE ass music. I'll let ya'll go visit the OFFICIAL MOVIE SITE to get the low down on just who will be scoring this masterpiece, but I'll bless you with two videos I just watched that were created to couple the film.
The first one is a new joint by The Kickdrums, your favorite remixers favorite remixers, and producer supernovas. They just dropped their first album as a musical act and this is the lead single. MAN, this is a gnarly summer, music on point to the left and right and up and up. a REAL hot song. And an even hotter video..
Get there new album RIGHT HERE! Courtesy of ON SMASH. YUP.
And the second is Wale's "Family Affair" that just dropped a couple days ago. Another hot one from Mr. DC himself. The video is amazing, Rik Cordero is a true genius and he has some fucking masterminds making this music to go with these films, Wale serves it wit this one, on some SERIOUS BIZ!
FUCKING BANANAS. SOULFUL SUNDAES IN FULL EFFECT YA'LL.

Hollywood Divorce - Precious: Based On The Novel "Push" by Sapphire
This film is getting rave reviews coming out of Sundance. Read about it last year, glad it's finally coming to light. A gripping story as well as superb performances.
If you watch the trailer, you might recognize the case worker (0:38seconds in). Yep...that's Mariah Carey. Below is a longer clip of that scene which gives you a a closer look at the tragic triumph that is Precious.

Hollywood Divorce: Bruno Red Band Trailer
Bruno Official Trailer (R-rated!)
When you think of dildos, funny accents, and all out mayhem, one name should come to mind, three names actually, Sacha Baron Cohen. The British character actor is back with another Ali G Show persona, the gay Austrian television host/model, Bruno. From Fashion Show fuckery, to Blue Collar Brawlin'(see video below), Bruno wreaks havoc on his unsuspecting co-stars left and right. No one is safe, not even Ron Paul. Enjoy

Hollywood Divorce: Fast and Furious x Soulja Boy
This song does not work for the trailer. I'm just sayin... publicity stunt and attention grabbing thing, sure. Background song. Not doin it for me.
Hollywood Divorce: Next Day Air
This movie looks HILARIOUS! Mos Def, Mike Epps, and LAUREN LONDON. Lacey DuValle is also in the movie and don't front like you don't even know who that is. lol. Anyway, Ay STEVE, when you get THOSE packages, re route them to me k? lol.
Hollywood Divorce: Obsession
I've been meaning to post these but I've been running around for the past couple days and forgot about it. I saw the next few trailers you'll see when I saw Notorious (which was okay - Gravy shoulda practiced rapping a little lot more) Anyway. This movie "Obsessed" has Beyonce and that chick from Heroes. It looks pretty dope. and if not, at least we got some eye candy! lol.

Hollywood Divorce: Knw1ng (2009)
This shit looks kinda scary. Not in like the horror film way but the really good concept and script that was probably a classic book before and a horrible director is about to ruin it. It's the same director as I, robot which was one giant chauvinistic anti-woman movie (my logic is undeniable). So hopefully he does better this time around.
Hollywood Divorce: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE HD
Looks Dope. And Gambit is THE shit.

Hollywood Divorce: Monsters, Vampires and Dead Babies Oh My!
So I hit up the movies today, did a little bit of the 2 for 1 special on their overcharging ass. I saw Role Models which was one giant "No Homo" joke. Hilarious of course. I also saw Madagascar 2 which did not dissapoint either.
Anyway, I saw a couple of DOPE trailers that I had to post up here.
Twilight
The theatrical trailer set it up a lot better in my opinion, but this will do. Pretty dope stuff. I love vampires, zombies, aliens, all that sci fi / horror / fantasy shit I eat it up. This looks dope.
--
The Unborn
This looks dope too. Probably gonna be a little cheezier than necessary, but you know my motto: Any movie with Meagan is a GOOD movie. lol. God damn she's hot.
--
Monsters vs Aliens
OMG I was DYING when I saw this trailer. I don't even be LOL'ing like that either. I couldn't breathe during the Bob part. "mmm hot dogs!" Looks good.

I'm not going to get into the politics of it all, but the film was more biased than it needed to be. The pretzel incident, while hilarious, isn't really necessary for the plot attempt at who this man really is, and what he believed and the things that led to some important decisions for the United States. Neither is him visiting the soldiers looking like a doofus. I can appreciate a cheap laugh. But from the man who did JFK and Nixon, you expect a little better.
At the same time showing deep discussions of a guy who just wanted to make his dad proud, and confused about life growing up, and his rebirth. Stuff that's supposed to be in a biopic. I feel they could have included more of these war room discussions, more evil swindling dick cheney who's exit plan consisted of "We DON'T exit." More MEAT.
Go for the laughs, stay for the impressions. The movie was obviously rushed to be done for November and perhaps this one would have been better served waiting for the Bush legacy to actually conclude and then maybe the movie would have an ending as well. Just my thoughts.

MANOJ from Zia Mohajerjasbi on Vimeo.
Local Filmmaker ZIA (who works on most of the important Seattle Hip-Hop Music Videos) has a new film out that's been in and around festivals over the last year, and now finally available on the Internet!
Big shout out to Zia who worked with Henry and I on multiple things and stay tuned for The Emerald City film to be on the internet in a few months as well, so long as Henry stays with his current plan he told me a while ago.

Hollywood Divorce - Notorious Trailer
Hmmm... looks worthy of another look. Not sure they should have made this shit still but still to be determined whether it will get my money. Either way I'll see it though. They're being hella sly about not showing any of the real acting or the main character. Very creative and well done trailer for that purpose. Assholes. I'm onto your shit.
