Soulful Sundaes: Kenna - Wide Awake

The triumphant return of the Soulful Sundaes begins NOW! I apologize once again for always being busy. I worked fucking 14 hours yesterday. I know bogus beef shit!!! But we are looking lovely on this Sunday Afternoon. Easy like Sunday Morn in here. So as we begin, I go back to 2007, wit Kenna's Make Sure They See My Face. The genius behind his music is so snorlaxed on. That's WORD!!! And with Chad Hugo as executive producer, this was easily one of the best albums of the year. This was the closeout song for the album, it's called Wide Awake. Peepers you Creepers.

Soulful Sundaes: Inside a Change

Super Director Rik Cordero has finally finished his first feature-length film. And it's looking great thus far. The name of the film is Inside a Change. Here's a lil more info about the movie:

"Chris Price (Ephraim Benton) is about to serve 180 days in prison for a first-time offense. When his mother (Karen Chilton) invites him home for dinner, he finds his younger brother (Darrell Vanterpool) following in his footsteps and his older brother, Shawn (Donté Bonner) disowning him. With his family falling apart, Chris is forced to re-examine his life and how he can bring everyone together for his mother's birthday.

Three/21 Films present a feature film by Rik Cordero, starring Ephraim Benton (Push, Baby Boy) and Karen Chilton (Half Nelson). Written by Rik Cordero and Aaron F. Schnore, from a story by Rik Cordero. The executive producer is Dwight King. The film was produced by Mike Fox. The co-producers are Nancy Mitchell, Steve Carless, Brady Nields and Seth Abrams."

The film drops next month and is going to feature some DOPE ass music. I'll let ya'll go visit the OFFICIAL MOVIE SITE to get the low down on just who will be scoring this masterpiece, but I'll bless you with two videos I just watched that were created to couple the film.

The first one is a new joint by The Kickdrums, your favorite remixers favorite remixers, and producer supernovas. They just dropped their first album as a musical act and this is the lead single. MAN, this is a gnarly summer, music on point to the left and right and up and up. a REAL hot song. And an even hotter video..

Get there new album RIGHT HERE! Courtesy of ON SMASH. YUP.

And the second is Wale's "Family Affair" that just dropped a couple days ago. Another hot one from Mr. DC himself. The video is amazing, Rik Cordero is a true genius and he has some fucking masterminds making this music to go with these films, Wale serves it wit this one, on some SERIOUS BIZ!

FUCKING BANANAS. SOULFUL SUNDAES IN FULL EFFECT YA'LL.

This video is a speed demon, and I was an extra in the desert scene. I was the third mummy. Now can someone make a real video game outta this shit? Cuz I wanna play this today. NOW!

Is it just me or did Santogold just CHANGE her name to Santigold cuz that's all i've been seeing lately.

*Update*She legally had to because some funky ass jeweler named Santo Gold who was going to sue her. It makes sense anyway because he legal name is Santi.

begat Charles Hamilton "Hopelessly Devoted"(don't worry it's a beat he doesn't "open mouth insert dick")<--cause for pause?
Anyway, this is a solid set

Soulful Sundaes: Passion Pit - The Reeling

I heard they tore it down at Sasquatch.
Another beautiful day in Seattle.
Must be Sunday

Soulful Sundaes: Death Cab For Cutie - Grapevine Fires

Before we get into this, I gotta say that Death Cab is by far the dopest band out. I need to start incorporating more of their music into the blog, as I feel we've been focusing a bit too much on hip-hop. Death Cab IS Seattle!!!

Now when I FIRST heard this song a month ago...it brought so many emotions to mind. It is a VERY VERY powerful song and has such a deeper meaning than the lyrics themselves. Enlightened symphonies indeed. Undeniably amazing. And I must say that as much as I loved the song, when I saw this video it almost made me cry. If it really IS based on a true story....MAN..Hearts go out is all I have to say. ENJOY.

*DOWNLOAD THIS VIDEO HERE!*

Walter Robot created the masterpiece video for the song, and if you haven't seen any of his other work, I'll be glad to make this weeks Soulful Sundae Robot-HEAVY! Stay tuned kids..and of course..

Welcome to Soulful Sundaes.

If you don't have Colin's Mixtape yet, you need that NOW!!!!! I'm gonna post a link to it on here in just a few. This is the opening track on the mixtape, and man does it speak to you. I'm still upset I missed Colin's performance when he was here with Wale at the beginning of this month. I'm actually working on getting him back out here soon. Gimme time..i'm on it! Whatup Andrew Kennedy!!!!! And as always, Joell Ortiz is a beeaassttt on the track. Two very slept on individuals that deserve much more spotlight than they have received thus far.

Oh Yah.
=!=

Soulful Sundaes: Beyonce - Ego

Now I asked her not to put this song out, because I don't like to divulge the information about the bulge to females before we get it in, because I want them to like me for ME. But apparently she couldn't help herself.

All her new songs have been dope, but I feel like I'm watching the same video over and over and over and over..but I'm NEVER trippin..wit her fine ass. That's why my ego so big, get em B.

FOR DAYS!

Soulful Sundaes: Chrisette Michele - Epiphany ALBUM

Not saying that I have absolutely no love for my big girls, but your body is a temple, and you should treat it as so. With that said, Chrisette is looking SUPER SUPREME these days, she's subtracted a few sizes from her bodily equation and still kept those pretty eyes. Wit a SMOKIN voice to boot.

Imeem has released the album for a few days before it actually comes out in stores. Take a listen, I promise you'll enjoy! May 5th is the official release date. Pick it up, good music conquers ERRRYYYYYTING.
