A Fresh BreakDown - Scarface: Emeritus

EMERITUS  [im-mer-rit-uss] - noun, adjective - retired or honorably discharged from active professional duty, but retaining the title of one's office or position.

"I grew up on KRS and Rakim....  Bitch you grew up on me.."

A hell of a statement made by Mr. Brad Jordan [aka] Scarface.  We can go ahead an pass this on as a true statement.  Considering the fact he's been in it since 1988, and influencing people like...  2Pac, and The Notorious B.I.G., that's sayin' something if he threw in the towel ten years ago.  Well, this is [supposively] Scarface's victory lap.  Does he go out with a bang, or does he show signs that time really passed him by, and it was time to go?

Well, like a few Scarface CDs, he lets the boss J. Prince get a chance to talk over the intro.  After he talks about his current events, he ends it pointing his gun at Lil' Troy.  (For those who don't know, Rap-A-Lot and Lil Troy are like the McCoys and Hartfeilds.)  Anyway..  J.Prince lets Scarface beast on Lil' Troy for the 1st actual song.  Me personally, I believe the fans didn't need a whole song dedicated to Lil' Troy for his "last" CD.  But it wasn't a bad song, and his feud with Lil' Troy will be remembered along with his career..  So I guess the go hand-and-hand.

Now Scarface, for a while now, has been a humble guy, he's not the one to hogg the spotlight, so he lets other people get their shine through him.  And it's true in this CD too.  Right off the bat, you'll hear a song featuring Lil' Wayne and Bun B.  Some lackluster performances from all three, I guess Bun stole the show?  But that'd be a stretch to say since the whole song from the hook to the beat is not so hot.   Slim Thug and K-Rino joins Scarface where they're goin' bad on women that dissed them in their past, but now is on their nuts.  Funny song, I guess what'd sum it up would be "Now I'm hot, they all on me" kinda deal.

"Reason I won't vote for Barack is cuz I love 'em, they gonna want 'em hanged after that.....  And John McCain hates niggas, Martin Luther King Day, go figga."

Other than that, Scarface pretty much handles it by himself, except he gets some help on a few hooks.  He's never been shy about talkin about current issues and events.  On the songs "High Note," and "Can't Get Right" he dives into politics and issues that's concernin' this lil' country of ours.  Since we know what those are already, I'll save you the trouble of sayin' what about, and just let you know they are great songs.

With some assistance from "Cookie", he gives young bunks a warning on the song "Not a Game."  He also pretty much does the same with "Unexpected" later on in the CD.  And he dives alil' bit on his stuggles coming up with help from Z-Ro and The Product on "Soldier's Story."

At the end of this nice CD.  FaceMob sums it up with the exclamation song "Emeritus."  Making sure he did not leave that stone unturned.  And since he does not do alot of boasting and bragging.  In this song he makes his own claim to be the G.O.A.T., and rightfully so.

Other than the lackluster song with Bun and Lil' Wayne, and diverting his attention to Lil' Troy, this CD is VERY short.  This CD will be over before you're outta that traffic jam during rush hour.  That's one downfall on the CD.  For the last hurrah, you'd hope it last a bit longer than it did.  On his last LP, he gave the Best Buy buyer's 2 bonus songs.  Here, you pretty much get, 11 songs, and all aren't five minutes.  But if this is Scarface's last go-round..  Know that the game will not be the same without 'em, it'll feel abit empty, and Brad Jordan / Scarface will be missed.

"That One" - People sound off..

CNN sees it...

Scarface goes in on McCain.  And yes, what he says is true.  Any white person, not willingly wanting to properly acknowledge a black person or look them in the eyes, even when they do stuff for 'em, nine times outta ten, they're racist.  Ask Mr. =!=, I'm sure he's had seen those moments.

Diddy has somethin' to say 'bout "That One"

October 06, 2008

KRS-ONE says "Put bread in yo brotha's mouth before putting a diamond on your neck."

Also Scarface  and Fat Joe pops up and speaks to KRS.  Either Scarface is your average rapper height (no taller than 5'4, lol,) and KRS one is a tall guy.

Top 5 Albums of '07

Well since '07 is officially over.  It would be an "ok" time to give your top albums of '07 huh?  This year, some of these artists had an attitude like "fuck it, I don't care if it sells, it's gonna be a good album."  Well, except for Kanye and 50, but that's a different story.  Well, my pic for the '07 year was Underground Kingz, U.G.K.  No, I'm not no bandwagon bitch that's just on Pimp C's nuts cuz he's dead.  No, never.  And I believe you guys will come to find Mr. Freshness really fair.  But if you listen to this album fully, you'll find that this is the best double disk album since Tupac and Biggie did theirs.  Of course it may go unnoticed, because UGK pretty much stays true to them, and they don't do commercial shit.  Me personally, I only skip 3 songs.  Now I don't know about you, but I love a good LONG album.  A double disk, with only 3 songs that are skipable.  Now Lupe Fiasco definately did his thing, but like I just said, I love great albums that are longer.  I mean, don't you feel albums like, Illmatic (Nas), Be (Common), and The Diary (Scarface) ended to soon for your ears?  Well, anyway.  Here's my lil' top five albums an honerable mentions.  And yes, I did at least buy my Top 3 albums!!

1 - U.G.K. (UnderGround Kingz)
2 - Lupe Fiasco (The Cool)
3 - Jay-Z (American Gangster)
4 - Scarface - (M.A.D.E.)
5 - Common (Finding Forever)

Honerable Mentions: Chamillionaire (Ultimate Victory), GhostFace Killah (Big Doe Rehab), Freeway (Free At Last),

See, I'm a southerner, and you don't see any nonsense like Soulja Boy up there.  What do yall think as far as '07???
