Kimbo Slice wins against James Thompson

For those people who are into MMA, or, you just wish Kimbo the best cause you saw him goin' smash season on n**gas on youtube.  Well.  In his 3rd professional bout, Mr. Slice won via TKO in the 3rd round.

I didn't get to see it live, but I went and peeped the fight on Youtube, and it was a pretty nice fight.  Kimbo showed a few thing to his haters, he showed: some skill, potential, n showed he's still got along way to go before he gets to the top.  But The question still goes unknown, why would you let Kimbo get a clean shot on you?  I don't care WHO or how BIG you are!   Lol!  That's jus plain silly.  And that's how he won the fight.  The Ref stopped it, but it was clear Thompson was on his way down, he couldn't defend anymore.  I guess some fans thought that Thompson wasn't phased, or they wanted to see Kimbo KO the man.  But of course, it's people already sayin' it was rigged, jeeze, cut the guy some slack.

Anyway, judge it for yourself.

Part 1

Part 2..

Now...  What's crazy is, when you view these videos on YouTube, be it Kimbo VS Thompson, or Rampage Jackson VS  Chuck Liddell.  You see people's true colors come out, and they always turn it into a "white vs black" thing.  People get real racist on those comments about their favorite fighters.  Either real racist, or get to bad-moufin' someone elses country, it's crazy, nuthin' has changed since Ali whooped up on the Russian guy, lol.  You should type in some MMA fights on YouTube and see the craziness yourself.

A Fresh BreakDown - Lil Wayne: The Carter III

Seriously though, love 'em or hate 'em, over-rated, under-rated, on-point, off target, gay, straight, whatever adjective you use... One thing you can't deny. He's been the hottest rapper for the past year and a half it seems. It's like Jay-Z in the late 90's, he's just on everybody's request for a feature (not sayin' Jay still ain't, but Jay's price is alil' to high for your average rapper.) Also, what you can't deny, Weezy F. made a big impact and people started payin' attention as soon as he started doin' these Carter sets. Also, this is when he put that Gillie style to good use. Wayne is often praised for the crazy flow, and unique swagger of his, but to most hip-hop purists, he's criticized for his lack of substance in songs and ability to be versatile on his LPs. And pressure would be a great understatement for the self-proclaimed "Best Rapper Alive." Well, lets see if the main meal lives up to the hype... Or did all those appetizers (mixtapes, different verses) spoiled the hungry belly.

Quick FYI, The Carter is a drug house basically. That's why the other CDs had the beginning concept that it had. Now, this CD starts off on "3 Peat," the name suggests it all, so right away, you can probably expect that this CD doesn't have that same "Lemme take you upstairs" kinda thing. He's mostly boastin up his flow, nuthin' we haven't heard from the mixtape, but nice beat, nice flow, coo lyrics keep the song an enjoyable song.

Then Wayne goes straight in with what people have been lookin' for since the "Hello Brooklyn" was more of Wayne singin' than rappin', a track with Jay-Z. With the Just Blaze produced track with "Mr. Carter" bein' repeated throughout the beat is a for-sure head rocker. Another boastful song, where Dwayne gets him two good verses in before Shawn gets his 16 in. And he pretty much staples the song his, lol. Wayne gets another crack in the end, but it kinda seemed like he was outta steam tryin' to keep up with Jay, cuz Jay didn't do the regular Jay verse in this song.

Up Next is the "A Milli" track, which I'm sure you've heard already, so I'm not gonna break it down. Followed by the "Got Money" track where him and T-Pain get to have fun with the lil' voice effects. Not much to say about this track, 'cept it's a decent lil' club song, with an OK hook. Nuthin' we haven't seen from Weezy before.

We finally hear the Kanye laced beat with Babyface on the hook, a very very nice love song. And Wayne's lyrics and flow blend in nicely with the beat and hook.
Up next is a song alil' left field called "Phone Home," and as the name suggests, Weezy's from another planet. With the David Banner produced track, he does alot more flow boastin', with a crazy lil' hook. Pretty coo' track though.

Up Next is a Swizz Beats laced track, where Wayne plays the part of a Dr. gettin' ready to operate on Hip Hop. Very clever song, and the beat is very very old schoo', this song SHOULD easily satisfy any hip hop purist, if not, they're hatin' on the lil' man with the long hair.

Now we finally get to hear a softer side of Wayne. Well, I wouldn't say softer side, I say he's more pissed on this track because you hear him talk about his hometown in the N.O. You'll hear things like "They took away the football team, basketball team, and only left me to represent for New Orleans." With Robin Thick on the hook, and Kanye West ontop of the beat, it's a great tribute to the good ol' N.O.

Then Weezy comes back for two straight tracks bringin' some more lyrical heat, one beat from Kayne West on "Shoot Me Down," where it has an ol' wild west kinda feel. Then he follows it up with the "Playin' With Fire" track.

After this, is followed up by the ladies' favorite, "LolliPop" so I ain't gonna say much 'bout it. After that it's a track with Brisco and Busta called "La La." It ain't hittin' on to much, pretty borin' hook, and dry beat, so if it wasn't for the above-average lyrics, it's be a below average track.

Now.. After this, has to be the best damn beat from the Alchemist, MY GOD! This beat. With alil' help from Fabolous (Who obliterates the beat) and Juelz, Wayne gets his bragg on again, and also gets to have fun with the voice effects. ( Jury rules in favor of Fabolous on this track, lol, but that's jus my opinion..) But this is one of those songs where you put in ya car... N you turn it up high as it can, cuz it's gonna tear up that sub-woofer, lol.

Now the last Kanye produced song on the CD is called "Let The Beat Build". Wayne kinda gets off to a pretty slow start flow-wise, and it pretty much stays the same for the most part, so the beat builds alil' faster than he does lyrically. But, he does do a nice job cleanin' the track up on tha 1st part.

Weezy's called on the help of another dread-headed fellow in Wyclef for the next track titled "Mrs. Officer." And he gets alil' help from Mr. Bobby Valentino who delivers a very very addictive hook. Mr. Carter talks about hittin' on a lady-police officer. Pretty unique track here, since he's not sayin' "Fuck The Police" in the song, lol. Much praise for this track Wayne. He comes up with all kinda catchiness in the song with things like "lady whats ya number, she said 911, emergency only.... Then I beat it like a cop." Lol, greatness.

The last track, Wayne gets into a 9 minute plus track where he doesn't wanna be "MisUnderstood." But. He doesn't rap the whole way, about 3 minutes in, he starts talkin', and gettin' real political. Givin' alil' knowledge to people who didn't know this stuff already, he even blesses me with some new in-sight, sorta. And even gets on Al Sharpton's head, lol.

Well, what can I say about Lil' Wayne this go-'round? Was he successful, maybe to any other artist, this CD is a success, but for all the hype Lil' Wayne generated, and all the pressure.. It didn't match up to it. And can you blame him? Well, partially, boastin' he's the best rapper alive, and makin' so many verses. But, it's not his fault he gets on everybody's mixtape cover, it's also not his fault that his label won't let him make different type of songs. And I've always said, and still believe that the label, and/or Baby, won't let him be diverse. And that's what this CD, like the last few CDs have lacked, a diverse track-list. We see, maybe a better rapper, but we don't see a better artist. Because we see nice boastin' tracks, but, how many times have we seen this before? The whole concept of the Carter wasn't even in there this time. This CD totally contradicts the statement "I don't get into that boastin' shit," that he said in "Best Rapper Alive" on The Carter II. Cuz this CD was all about the boastin', and you could prolly tell with the intro track bein' "3-Peat." Maybe next go-round we'll see the maturity.

Album Ratin' - 4.2
Worth Buyin' - Although it wasn't much growth, but it's still a good enough CD

50 Cent's Baby Mama Drama

Update Thisis50.com posted a bunch of new photos. Hilarity.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Remember that house that 50's BM was supposed to move out of? Well, she was kind of forced to get out when that BITCH CAUGHT ON FIRE! HAHA! I personally don't blame dude. He tried the legal route, but she wouldn't cooperate. It's just a little fucked up though that he burned it down with everybody trapped in it.

Bose, who works in the crime scene section and is a 22-year veteran of the police department, called 911 and went to the rear of the house, where the occupants were trapped on the second floor.

Police said he instructed all six people to exit through a window and come out on to the roof. They each jumped down, and he was able to catch them. In addition to the residents, Bose also caught the family's pet guinea pig.

50's BM house catches fire!

Now, I don't know if this is before or after. But TMZ is EVERYWHERE! The two dots you hear yelling are 50 and his BM.

Scratch that, this video's much more entertaining:

ANOTHER EXCERPT!

"Too much funny sh*t was going on at Cash Money. This ni**a Stunna would have a fit about me being out by myself. I’d tell him to chill out! Man I ain’t stupid. I don’t run around jeweled up like you. I don’t keep cash on me like you and my thang thang is registered to me, unlike yours. Chill the f**k out! Make no mistake, this ni**a is a boss. He’d send somebody behind me I guess. Sometimes the ni**a would call and blow on me about being where I was at the moment. The ni**a would say, “Get the f**k from ‘round there!” and I’d get the f**k from ‘round there. Quick too…....Too much funny sh*t was going on at Cash Money. I’m sitting at the house in the East one day Wayne comes in and walks over to Baby and kisses him in the mouth. I didn’t just see that so I ain’t gonna say sh*t. When Wayne gets ready to leave, they do it again.

I guess some of them other ni**as recognized the look on my face and ran to the rescue. “T, don’t trip, that’s jailhouse love.” Jailhouse love? What the f**k? Them two ni**as and never been to jail! I’ve sent my fair share of Kites homie and I ain’t never heard of two ni**as kissing as being jailhouse love unless they was… ya dig? That sh*t was disturbing to me pimp. They say it’s a father-son thing. Ni**a I ain’t kissing my daddy in the mouth!

To each his own… I ain’t questioning a ni**a's sexuality cuz I just don’t get down like that, and I know for a fact that both of them cats like women. But it f**ks me up when them ni**as do that sh*t in public… Everybody always asks me about that picture. Well did y’all forget about 106 and Park?? Ni**a, my neighborhood rode me for months about that sh*t… I had to speak on it cuz y’all wanted to know.

That’s my spin on the whole “kissing” sh*t. I’m done with it."

Local Link-UP: Compound of Portland

So I'm down in Portland this weekend for Memorial Day. And we went down to the Nike Headquarters to pick up some kicks. Well that night before we decided to hit the town so we go downtown and go club hopping. As were walking, I see an Upper Playground store to my left..I acknowledge, and then all of a sudden we run into a WINDOW FULL OF SNEAKERS! Unbeknownst to ME and the rest of us as well, there is a boutique in Portland named Compound.

Now boutique may mean small shop, but there is NOTHING small about the selection in Compound. With everything from toys to Artzines, Art Shows to Tier 0 Sneakers, Exclusive streetwear to Live DJ's; this shop SERIOUSLY has everything.

I had NO money to spend there, but best believe my next trip back I'm entering with a FAT pocket and empty trunk, but I'm leaving with an empty pocket and a FAT trunk. YA DUG.

Peep them out. You WILL NOT BE disappointed.

I mean just look at the pictures. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?!?

Sad News: Xzibit's new-born passed away.

Xzibit writes this in his Myspace blog

ITS 4:32AM AND I HAVE SOME BAD NEWS……..

AS you all know, I shared with you the announcment of my newborn son Xavier Kingston Joiner on may 15th and also informed you that he was born prematurly. well this week was extremly difficult for him because his lungs were not strong enough to handle regular oxygen on his own. Xavier passed away this morning at 3:30am and I must tell you this, It is unatural for a parent to bury a child. I am telling you this because of the same reason I tell you when im having great times, life is too short to be fake. Hold on to your kids if you have them, protect them and show them you love them everyday you wake up and see them, dont take a second you get to hug them teach them and care for them for granted. You can have all the material wealth in the universe but it is NOTHING compared to having your family. I am thankful for all of my blessings and im not one to question God’s perfect plan, so I leave you with great love and thanks for the love that was sent earlier on my pervious blog to my son. Of course I need to take some time and handle my loss, STAY FOCUSED PEOPLE. Its not promised to any of us.

Local Artist Spotlight: Macklemore

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

One of the guest acts for the upcoming Blu Show which unfortunately falls on our vacation and we won't be able to attend. Is local Seattle Talent "Macklemore".

I thought I would do a local artist spotlight and maybe turn it into a once a week thing so you can get to know the names you see on all sorts of flyers around here. We'll post up some music and introduce you (if you don't already know) to some of our city's finest.

But before I tell you anything about him, here's a standout track from Macklemore because you should judge an artist by their music anyway.

Welcom To Myspace - Macklemore

In an older interview with local newspaper "The Stranger" Macklemore explains his upbringing.

"Yo, I did the same kinda things a lotta kids that are into hiphop did coming up—you know, skating, graffiti," Macklemore explains. "As soon as my parents let me strike out on my own, hop the bus and whatnot, I was looking for something to get into."

"For a while, the spot was the wall of the Comet Tavern, before they put that painting or whatever up there; it was a free wall, and it ended up just being a spot to chill and network with like-minded cats. Drinking 40s, writing, scheming on ways to get over. My boy Frank lived on Broadway," Macklemore chuckles, "and we'd link up and go hustle, meaning the old hey-we're-raising-money-for-team-uniforms trick; then we'd take that money, buy equipment, weed, whatever."

But it's not all about that. On his LP he touches on some problems that we deal with in Seattle I myself call the Condo Crisis but everyone has their own name for it. For example the Mayor prefers to call it development. In Seattle we don't try to fix peoples lives for the better. We build condos everywhere and price everyone out of their neighborhoods and force them to move elsewhere.

Claiming The City (featuring Abyssinian Creole) - Macklemore

You can buy his last LP at most Local Seattle Record Stores. Easy Street Records is always supporting local artists, you can buy it from his myspace page, and probably other places online if you look.

Saigon Leaves Atlantic + New Music

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Saigon's Myspace Blog posted some interesting news this morning.

Once upon a time, I remember telling my homie Just Blaze that the ONLY way we would win was if we were to get off of Atlantic Records A.S.A.P... Most of you may not know but I have fought and fought and fought for the past year and a half to get out of that bad deal...

... Now to bring you all up to date...I am NO LONGER ON ATLANTIC RECORDS, thank you God. I took legal action and got my manager Chris, my lawyer Theo, my homies Gee Roberson and Just Blaze and we got the fuck up out of there... No, I didnt get dropped so you haters dont get excited, I fought these people very very hard to leave. When they drop you they keep your music and you dont have to pay them shit back.. Trust me, I tried to get dropped. I still own my masters so we have to give these bastards a whole LOT of money , BUT, we still own The Greatest Story Never Told which will be released this year with a company that Im sure will surprise the whole world once we let it out.. Nobody is gonna see this coming..TRUST ME. Im still rocking with Just Blaze till the dirt, Im still with Hip Hop Since 1978 till the dirt, we killed them with Kanye West, now we bout to kill em with Lil Wayne and Saigon comes soon after to play clean up....

He also added some new music Download Saigon - Believe it

Nas Folds

Def Jam has just confirmed that Nas will change the title of his new album... It will NOW be called untitled.

"It's important to me that this album gets to the fans," Nas told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It's been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It's that important. The streets have been waiting for this for a long time. The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it."

All Hip Hop has more.

Exposing Hip-Hop's Gay Subculture

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

An article in Newsweek today talkin about the new book from Terrance Dean. A former MTV employee.

(Dean's) new book, "Hiding in Hip-Hop: On the Down Low in the Entertainment Industry," is a tale of life inside Hollywood's secret gay subculture, and hip-hop's place within that world. Though it doesn't name names, the memoir is a detailed (and graphic) account of down-low life, gay sex parties and secret societies, where some of hip-hop's major artists openly sleep with men, only to go home to their wives and girlfriends at night's end. (A person who is "down low" considers himself straight but regularly sleeps with members of the same sex; the term is frequently used when describing black men.) And though Dean's intention was never to out anybody, he provides just enough information for readers to go crazy searching Google. There's a New York R&B singer who often opened for Jay-Z, caught the ears of Death Row Records and has worked on Broadway. A member of a rap group that changed hip-hop with its "philosophical rhymes over hard-core beats" who then went solo to achieve chart-topping success, eventually landing the lead in a movie. (He's also married.) "Men who have secret love affairs have separate homes and apartments, and separate phones strictly for their romantic flings," writes Dean. "No one ever suspects a thing, and they go to great lengths to keep it that way."

This makes me remember the infamous Pimp C interview on the Atlanta Radio station where he says "I know which rappers are gay and I know who likes a finger in the butt" or something similar. lol.

Also: Any reason to post this video again. LOL

What What In The Butt!

Anyway. Leave some comments. Who do you think he's talking about. Is the rapper Scarface? But has he really "starred" in any movies? Or is it Andre 3000? I refuse to think so. Not that it doesn't make him any less of a Dope rapper. But He is a pretty fashionable dude, not that only gay people are fashionable or anything.

Soulful Sundays: Natasha Bedingfield - Pocketful of Sunshine

Natasha Bedingfield ALWAYS delivers to hip-hop. Since her VERY first single, These Words, she's had breakers, bombers(graf artists), and hip-hop themes in many of her videos. That is why I think she's an AMAZING artist. Not even mentioning the fact that she's HELLA sexy, and her music is actually very well written..oh she can sing too. Anyway, haha..So when I first heard this song I was like koo, it's just a feel good song, but after seeing the video this video reminds me of what hip-hop USED to be about. It might be a bit more poppy, but the stories within the video bring that feeling of.....what happened to the party? Rap music used to be fun, even gangster rap was about having fun and enjoying life and unity, and stuff, look at N.W.A with Express Yourself, and ALL of Snoop's old videos. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PARTY? That's all I wanna know.

Blender Magazine Interviews Lil Wayne. Sort of. They have Fan's send in questions and he answers them. Some of them = outright HILARIOUS!

Who do you want to take the White House?
candida.efrom, Detroit

Barack, I guess, but I can’t make a real opinion. I ain’t watching no debates. I just want my people to understand that Hillary and Barack are not running for president—they running to be able to run for president. There’s a Republican party, too—we ain’t about to win, fool! A woman or a black man versus an old white dude? Fuck no! They gonna be like, This black-ass nigga trying to come in my Oval Office? Fuuuuck no. The world about to end in 2012 anyway. ’Cause the Mayans made calendars, and they stop at 2012. I got encyclopedias on the bus. The world is gonna end as we know it. You can see it already. A planet doesn’t exist: There’s no more Pluto. Planes are flying into buildings—and not just the Twin Towers, but dudes who play baseball are flying planes into buildings. Mosquitoes bite you and you die. And a black man and a woman are running for president!

You’ve been arrested three times in the last six months. What’s the secret to
surviving a weekend in jail?
hellsrells145, Passaic, NJ

It’s just like you living in a bad apartment. That’s how I look at it: Here we go. Fuck. Somebody gon’ fuck with you, but ignoring a nigga is cool. You getting out of there in a few days. That nigga just trying to make your stay longer. One tip is: If you only gonna be in there a few days, even if it’s a whole week, don’t eat. Who wanna shit in front of anyone? Everyone gonna smell you. Some niggas in there don’t care, but me, I’m a hygienical nigga. You gotta hold that in.

You’ve said you want to retire and become a French hip-hop star. What dirty French words do you know?
Planter_6, Middletown, CT

Uh, ménage à trois? Man, I don’t know when I said that. I be saying all kinds of shit, ’cause I be wanting to do all kinds of shit. I be high, y’all.

50 Cent has called you a “whore” repeatedly. Where is your comeback rhyme already?
Endlesslurve, Phoenix
Man, I have to call him and say thank you. He’s catapulted me. Nigga, white people know me now! Thank you! Diss rhyme? Fuck no! That nigga thrives off that. I am not feeding that tiger. I’m smart. Do you see his size? I’m small. I saw a YouTube video of this dude playing a concert; somebody threw water on him—he took off his hat, went in the crowd, grabbed that nigga and boom! I was like, This nigga’s the hardest nigga on planet Earth. So, no, I’m not dissing 50. And I’m not throwing water on him, neither.

You call yourself the Greatest Rapper Alive. Prove it: Can you make up a rhyme on the spot using the words doughnuts, koala and Conan O’Brien?
SufferFools, Modesto, CA

Whoever asked that is just as crazy as me. [Thinks quietly for a half-minute.] OK, I got you...

Sample of the Week! (Isaac Hayes)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Wow. Not even gonna lie. Totally stumbled upon this one. I love the internet. Shout out to Internet Radio Station PANDORA
for popping on Smokey Robinson's cover of Walk On By through my phones. Which made me wonder who else covered Dionne Warwick's #77 best song of all time according to Rolling Stone. This is where Wikipedia comes in. Isaac Hayes has a version. Off to imeem to listen. POW! 2 Samples hit my ears from the first 30 seconds. That drum break to start is obvious by the time you reach the climax, and immediately afterwards Biggie pulled through. Both are obvious if you pay attention in the first 2 seconds of the song. But I have a slow memory. It takes about 30 seconds to be like What's that from? and go down a list of sounds in my head. After a minute or two I hear something else, but can't make it out. Hop over to The Breaks Sample List Ah HAH! My favorite Pac album of all time. JUST AN EXCERPT.

"..Now we all know Baby is a showman. Never more than this particular night though. He always looked at his crew as an army. To watch them all in the studio, you’d call them the same, but to watch Lil Wayne do his thang, you knew this was Baby’s ace in the hole. Now I had hung with all the Hot Boys in the city on separate occasions for fun. Me and Juve would tear down the city when I was there. Me and BG would tear down the projects. Me and my ni**a lil Turk would beef 'cause I smoked too much weed, lol…

Wayne was just a kid, and I wasn’t going to hang out at the high school, ya dig? The only time the whole crew was together was when we were working. I guess that should've been a red flag.

It wasn’t. This lil ni**a came in the studio and listened to my record one time down while performing to himself in the mirror. He said to Baby, ”I’m ready." He didn’t write sh*t down. He went in the studio and killed it with one take. My mouth dropped. Wayne came out the booth, listened, waited for Baby’s approval, waited for mine, and asked for a copy.

I was shocked. I watched the lil’ dude leave out and hop in his yellow SLK. He had a chick in the car! The ni**a left it running!! I was done. Baby was cracking his side looking at my expression. That ni**a Wayne had a gift. I knew it and so did Baby…

What I didn’t know was that Slim had been calling Sony trying to buy me out of my deal. “Giant” wanted me as an artist at all cost, but Sony was making money off me, and they weren’t trying to hear it. Meanwhile, my sales down South had doubled, and we had the Birdman to thank for that. It got to the point where I would come out in the middle of their show to do my song just 'cause Baby wanted to hear it!

Word got back to Sony and they started to panic. They informed Slim that he’d be sued for tampering if he kept it up. So we had to come up with another plan. We met and he told me what was up. He told me that if I could get myself out of that deal, he had a much better one on the table… I’m saying to myself, “Is that possible?” I mean, regardless of the situation, I did have a helluva deal with Sony. I wasn’t selling that many records, but I was making a whole lotta cake… How could he beat that?

Anyway, I listened like a dumba** and set about getting myself out of my deal… Plan B was in full effect..."

Download Teyana Taylor - Fly Away

You may already know Pharrell’s latest protégé from her extravagant, 80’s-themed coming out party on MTV’s Sweet 16 or as the petite pop locker in Jay Z’s “Blue Magic” video, but her V.I.P. status was established even before the cameos and big name industry endorsements. Lady Beyonce herself was so impressed with the Harlem bred triple threat’s moves that she asked her to teach her the Chicken Noodle Soup — the popular dance Teyana helped innovate — for her performance at the 2007 VMA’s. "That kind of love coming from Jay and Beyonce, was crazy, recalls Teyana. "When he said, Yo, you’re a superstar. I’ll see you at the top,’ I was humbled, like wow!"

With the release of her debut album, From A Planet Called Harlem (Star Trak/Intersope), Teyana finally gets to show off her killer pipes and full-bodied flow to the rest of the universe. The album is a macrocosm of R&B, pop rock, and rap and deliciously rich with sticky hooks and campy lyrical play. "From the songs to the production — the whole direction of the album is insane," explains the Star Trak maverick. "It’s a story about having fun."

A Fresh BreakDown - Bun-B : 2 Trill

"I got 100 thousand dollars on Bun B right now any of you pussy ass niggas wanna put up ya muthafuckin' funky ass car and think you can out-rap 'em"  - Pimp C

1st collection of UGK music with the Pimp in a better place.  You gotta admit, it's been tough on Bun-B over the years.  After Pimp went to jail, he went through a down-time, then he picked it up to help keep UGK's name out there.  Once Pimp C got outta jail, and they didn't sound incomplete anymore, they make one of the best double-disc CDs of all time.  Not even a year after that CDs dropped in the stores, the Pimp passed away.  And now it's up to Bun-B to keep the UGK name goin' again.

Well, if you're familiar with Bun-B and the UGK history, you know what to expect from these cats, they keep it pretty hood and touch on all subjects, and most importantly, they keep it Southern.  (Word to M!ke Tha Owner, lol.)  But the thing one person from a duo has to do different than they would normally do is to make the whole song.  And you'll see this flaw sorta throughout the whole CD.  Especially people like me who've been a UGK fan for a while.  1st off, it feels like he's missin' somethin', (go listen to a Bone-Thugs song without Bizzy Bone.)  Shit, Bun even says it "But Never in my life could have ever have seen / I'd hafta lose the other half of my team..."  But anyway, back to the point.  The CD is flooded with guest spots, around 16 features.  But he shows that southern hospitality from all over, from Lupe Fiasco, to Mya, to Junior Reed, to Webbie.  And you know it's some Houston homies on the CD.  And the other thing about UGK.  Pimp C did alot of hooks, cuz the Pimp could sing, so it feels kinda akward there, and with that being their history, Bun's voice stays shy of the hooks on his CD.  But like most good artists, they have a good ear for music, so the hooks aren't bad at all.

But what Bun does do well is rap his ass off.  He's also one of those very VERY under-rated MCs out there.  I'm with Pimp C, (if I had 100 thousand to jus put on the table.)  It's VERY few people I'd put over Bun's flow.  You've got to hear it over tha years, and you get to hear it on alot of songs on this CD.  Like in the Lil Wayne assisted track "Damn I'm Cold".  Even though Wayne ain't provide the best hook in the world, Bun B kept the track up with that unique flow of his.  Able to adapt to any beat and switch it up, he switches it up on the II Trill intro, comin' in exactly when the bass knockin' on ya ear-drum.  One of the better songs on here is when he mashes it up with Lupe on "Swang on 'Em", it's right down Bun's lane, but it's fun to hear Lupe switch it up and connect with them southern Chi-Town roots..  (Cuz we know his ancestors came from tha souf bein' from Chicago.)  Oh, n did I forget to mention that the beat is hittin'.

Bun has always been the political kinda guy.  Other than Mos Def, he's probably a leadin' hip-hop activist.  On "Get Cha Issue," unassisted, Bun goes in 100 mph talkin' about the 3 P's in America.  Pastors, Police, and Politicians.  And on the song "If It Was Up To Me," Bun talks about how the problems in America, and with the Jamaican vibe Junior Reed provides on the hook, it makes the song fuckin' perfect yall.  "Its time to educate the people mayne, free school and college."  I'm with you 100% there Bun, lol.

Its two instances where Bun kinda veers out his lane alil' bit n gets in the club on "I Luv That" and attempts to make another booty-shaker anthem with Juvenile and Webbie.  But Bun keeps us UGK junkies pleased with the expected Trill anthems like "Keep it 100" and "Underground Thang", which is the only track with Pimp C on it, along with Chamillionaire.   And my personal favotire "Another Soldier."

And with the help of Lil' Razah, Bun reflects on his time he spent with Chad Butler, and how much he misses him.  It is about as emotional as he's ever gotten, a song that makes you wanna tell ya best-friend ya love 'em cuz ya don't know when they last day'll be.

A Fresh BreakDown - The Roots: Rising Down

Sorry it took me so long to get to this yall, cuz it's a good one.  Well, shit.  It's The Roots, you know it was gonna be good.  The Roots are one of the few mainstream acts in Hip Hop that's stayed 100% true to form (along with Scarface, UGK, OutKast, among few others.)  And that's pretty damn good considerin' how times have changed and how long these guys have been in it.  So expect these guys to come with the heat.  Oh, and did I forget to mention ?uest-Love is funky on the drums?

Anyway,  the Roots introduces their music to us with the help of Mos Def and Styles P.  Mos Def once again showin' why he's one of the most under-rated rappers of all time.  All three deliver that heat in a song where they talk about alot of things wrong with the world in a cry out to God himself.  On the song "Criminal" Black Thought even wonders if God is listenin' when he says "I don't even know if God is listnin' or what".  So right off the bat you can tell this album is extremly political and critical of the world we live in today.  And a boost in the song form Saigon ain't bad to hear from either.  And the song "Singing Man" is a must-hear.  And Common lends a hand on "The Show", and if you're wonderin', with this backed-up guest list, did anyone ever outshine Mr. Thought....  No, absolutely not.

For the most part the album has a very very dark sound to it.  Not sayin' that that is a bad thing, cuz it ain't, the beats on here are hittin'.  Therefor the ablum doesn't really stray off track at any point.  But there are a few joints  where they switch it up.  Like in the Chrisett Michele assisted hook, Black's comparin' himself to the weak shit that's on the radio.  The whole mood switches itself on this joint, cuz it's so...  Man fuck, ANYTHING CHRISETT MICHELE IS ON IS A CLASSIC SONG.  Ok.  Had to get that statement outta tha way.  Lol.   I don't even think Shawty-Lo could fuck that song up.  Ahem.  Anyway,  you also get to hear Black Thought spit those bars in "75 bars" showin' his roots to Hip Hop, and in the bonus freestyle at the end of the disc.  He also explains what the hell a real freestyle is.

All in all, you could play through this whole CD without touchin' it.  Not sayin' it's a classic, but there time in the studio was well spent, and they didn't make any bad songs.

Aaliyah on Fader Magazine Icon Issue Cover

Fader's Annual Icon Issue

They proceed to interview some of those close to her, or inspired by her, about some memories they have of her.

It sucks that she was JUST starting to get credit where it was due at the END of her life..I had been checkin for her for a MINUTE. Because my older sister had been a fan of hers ever since her VERY first song ever came out, I always had known about her..

R.I.P Baby Girl. You are STILL MISSED.

I wanna tell a story. "I ain't lyin, yo, TRUE STORY!" (c) That kid from the lean back vid.

The first time I ever got introduced via Myspace to =Top!Flite=, I looked at his music. One song in particular stood out, actually one line more than anything. "I like my tacos with Nacho Cheese, but don't touch my money, girl, that's Not yo Cheese"

I'm pretty upset at the fact that two great MC's have now made fame from this line. (The second one being Blu of Blu & Exile fame) Not saying they found the hella old bad quality songs that Mike recorded from an IMac Microphone like 6 years ago and decided that no one would ever know. I'm just saying, it goes to show he is much ahead of his time. That could be said for Smizzy too.

Dare I mention the We All Love Coke song with both Jay Smart and Mike Check on it. Recently "re-done" by NERD in their new song, Everybody Nose.

We all know Kanye has the history of Stealing songs. Jesus Walks/Rhymefest anyone? But Homie, at LEAST Fest got the Grammy too.

So to whom it may concern: Put 'em on if you're gonna jack from them. They ain't even tryna have a hot tub full of bitches. Well, maybe they wouldn't mind, but it's not a top priority. They do it for the passion. For the love. Shouldn't such a rare thing be rewarded?

Sincerely,

Thisis50 Interviews the Man who Allegedly Knocked Suge Out

Allegedly.

My personal opinion is this shit is FAKE as FUCK! Curtis is funny for this, it was probably his idea.

Look at the facts: This dude sounds and talks EXACTLY like some ugly combination Unforgivable/No Homo/Kat Williams shit. It sounds like he's smoking weed, and doing lines of coke in the middle of the interview. Although a mothafucka would have to be that crazy to take Suge out with a Pipe.

What's your verdict? Leave a comment.

Did Papoose REALLY think this was going to work?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"Remy Ma's wedding called off when hubby-to-be Papoose smuggles in key"

"A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled," a corrections official told the Daily News.

"The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use," the official said.

C'mon Pap, you're supposed to hide it in the wedding cake. Don't you watch any movies?

As punishment he can't visit Rikers for another 6 Months.

Daily Dedication: Craig Hodges

I'm starting ANOTHER new segment. YES I know I know..wtf Checka..you didn't even get the other 6 off the ground yet. What can I say, I didn't take my medicine..hahhaah ANYWAY!!

Today's dedication goes out to none other than:

CRAIG HODGES!!!!

If you don't know Craig he balled alongside Michael Jordan in the first championship era of the famed Chicago bulls. Also was the 3-point contest champ 3 years in a row, from 90-92.

Hodges, who is also a devout Muslim, hand wrote a letter to the first President Bush in regards to their poor treatment of the impoverished and minorities in America. He also criticized his own teammate Michael Jordan for not using his fame to bring social issues to light. LOL.

So to Craig Hodges. Salutations homie. Salutations.

This was too hardcore NOT to post. So police came banging on his door at 3 AM to arrest him, and then he started to barricade himself inside his bedroom. SWAT came down on his ass, and he gave up and came out.

They seized a bunch of drugs, weapons, and dogs (alive and dead)
