A little special early sample of the week. I know 9th gets a lotta flack for usin fruity loops, but shit. IMO, he resurrected the shit from dilla's murder just to kill it again. I just wanted to throw it out there because Term got on and smashed. Usually you get bored of the same sample but even Jeezy killed it. (what am I saying?!)
OG song: Billy Paul - Let the Dolla Circulate
In mental preparation for the NOTORIOUS movie 'COMING OUT' today. Here's a sample for you from Biggie. I'll go see the movie tomorrow likely. With very modest expectations.
Writer: Diana Ross - I'm Coming Out
Biter: Notorious BIG - Mo Money Mo Problems
Also found another cool sample site. http://www.whosampled.com/. I'll probably start contributing there when I'm bored because they ain' got sheyiit although I just checked and they did have this sample. So I guess theres a few good ones.
Biter: Ashanti - Baby
Writer: Scarface - Mary Jane
Sometimes I wonder if Murder Inc have an original beat EVER back in their heyday?
"Trife niggas, who produce and sell the same beat twice, niggas." (c) Nelly
I'm currently in a temporary cheap ass apartment in one of the many offshoot cities of Seattle until the economy gets its damn act together or I get off my ass and settle for a job that isn't part of my career path. So I've got more snow than downtown, but it's still COLD AS ICE out here. I think we're at about 8 inches. Also in case you missed the memo, SEATTLE PEOPLE CAN NOT DRIVE IN THE SNOW! Say what you want, but we handle the rain pretty well because that's all it does out here anyway. Snow is another matter. Anyway, I figured I'd get around to a sample this week and this is the first song that came to mind besides that shovelin snow shit with weezy and currency but damn if I'm about to work hard and find if there was any samples on that beat.
Writer: Foreigner - Cold As Ice
Biter: M.O.P - Cold as Ice
Writer: James Brown - Cold Blooded
Now.. Before I post this video. I'd like to ask a few questions, because some of these samples I didn't know he basically re-did the beat from. I just thought he mostly had voice samples, but the video shows he takes the beats too.
Hah. Auto, Audio... get it? eh. I was sitting around listening to the GTA IV soundtrack (pretty damn good). This song was one of the joints I kept playing over because it kept bugging me. Took me a couple hours to realize this was the same beat from Jay-Z's Vol. 1 (You must love me). About 5 minutes later I recognized the sample as the same one from 50-Cent's Ski Mask Way. Anyway, check this joint out.
CJ - I Want you
Anyway, here's the sample if you're interested.
Check out the GTA IV soundtrack CD a few other standout tracks:
This one goes out to all you mafuckas who owe me money and that one bitch who's late on the rent if she don't sell her pussy in a few days. lol.
This just has some classic lyrics. lol.
and one last one.
Qadir gets pretty creative with his gun's nicknames.
Back again. Been bumping Elzhi allllll week. Figured I'd drop a sample from the album. This track from KRS is just crazy. Who dreams they're a blunt about to get smoked? I'd be scarred as fuck if that ever happened to me though. lol. Hey, I got an idea for the next Freddy movie.
Writer: KRS-One - I Can't Wake Up
Biter: Elzhi - Talking in my Sleep
Now this is in dedication to my sick ass not blogging much lately. I told you I'd come up with something for the sample of the week. Making up for an absence the other week. The thing about this week is it's a little tricky. This "original" song is basically a cover version of the actual "little Johnnie" track of the same name, later made famous by Peggy Lee. This one is just more spirited and upbeat, therefore making a better sample.
Writer: La Lupe - Fever
Biter: Rhymefest - Fever
Back with another one at the end of the week as usual or whenever I feel like doing it, cuz I am the blogger, bitch. haha.
I wasn't going to do a sample because I couldn't think of anything good for this week again, but I didn't wanna skip two weeks in a row. So in celebration of 88 keys new album "The Death of Adam" which I've been banging to death already. Here is the sample for Kanye and 88's "Stay Up (Viagra)" Joint.
Writer: Imagination - All night loving
Biter: 88 keys feat Kanye West - Stay Up (Viagra)
Anyway, I'll hit ya'll with a two for one next week or sometime this weekend when I get inspired by something in the car. I'm about to buy some more blank cds and burn all my cds over again and switch up the rotation soon. I should probably just invest in an ipod.
Jake did part of my SOTW duties for me this week, releasing the samples of all 12 of the songs he sampled for his "Home" track on White Van Music over at his blog which he updates once a month. lol.

4. Back Up Off My Tip - DMS
5. Watch Your Words - Samson & Swift

As you look at the tracklist, you'll notice these are mostly old school Seattle cuts. So if you aren't, than "Get Familiar" (c) Clinton Sparks. Enjoy.
And SINCE I didn't do the hard work in digging all these up, I'm about to get another one for you hopefully tonight in time for all your halloween adventures.
Tsk tsk. Word is that MOP is suing John Cena for 150 Grand because a "relatively unknown seattle producer" (aka Jake One) sampled their song "Ante Up" on John Cena's track. Jake is not named in the suit, but I know he did some work for John Cena's album. I'm not about to look up the credits for a John Cena album neither. Because honestly, you don't really care. lol. Big ups to the hustlas of the rain for posting the story. I'm a rain drop H-U-S-T-L-E HustleR! lol. Get it? John Cena x murs remix ahhh fuckit.
Ante up:
Maybe they can settle this one in the ring. I'm not so sure that's to John Cena's advantage either, you see those mafuckas? They're huge.
So I felt like dropping a sample in the middle of the week because I'm pissed off that I didn't get to do the one I wanted to last week and because I can't find anything else to put on here at the minute.
This song was always dope to me. It came out right in between Carter 1 and 2 and wayne was JUST getting his flow down perfect. TI kills his verse and the girls are on point.
Writer: Destiny's Child ft Lil Wayne & TI - Soldier
How come every god damn time this damn willy north pole video comes on mtv or something, it NEVER shows the artist and credits? That's the only video ever to do that. lol. Anyway, they take Weezy's verse and chop it up for a pretty dope sample. Lil Wayne: Most sampled hip-hop artist? Next to biggie? (that's a jay-z joke.)
Willy North Pole - Body Marked Up
At 2:30: "I'm in the club with them thangs that POW POW, thug, turn around and keep dancin to bow wow."
What a coincidence... Cuz I'm in the club with my girl's ass thats like POWWWWWWWW POWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
hahahahahaha. Seriously. We call her pow pow.
Shiiit. Well, I had an original sample in mind, but the song ain't on imeem, so I was going to download it, than upload it to imeem. Then zshare was being a bitch, so I went looking for the album bootleggy style, but all those links were expired. So this will have to do for now until I can get that file off zshare. It is after all Mrs. Tia Jones' Birthday. Sort of. For the last 5 weeks. But that's the irrelevant part.
For now here's a different Billy Paul one to hold you over a day or two. Remember a few years back, some guy Lil Rok came out with a song and it was a huge hit and we never heard from him again? Yeah. Gravediggaz get no love.
Writer: Billy Paul - Me & Mrs Jones
Biter: Lil Rok - Me & Mrs Jones
chyeaa working on getting that other song. Hold tight.
Sample of the week a little early since I'm gone to LA all weekend. I'll try and get one or two more samples from the album of the year up here next week. This was just the easy one :D
Writer: Willie Hutch - I Choose You
Biter: UGK ft Outkast - International players anthem (I Choose You)
Biter: Jake One - R.I.P.
Today. I give you a DELUX edition of Sample of the Week. I remember looking up the soul sample for the Whatever you say record a while ago and decided to use something else eventually I guess. Well, now I started to do the HOJ song that samples whatever you say, I figure I'll throw the song THEY bit in the first place while I'm at it.
Writer: Cleo Laine - I Believe You
Writers / Biters: Little Brother - Whatever You Say
Biters: Hall of Justus - Jus Chillin (Main)
LOL. I swear this song is the perfect example of art imitating life. I can't tell you how many times I've related to this song when hanging out with a girl.
Biter: 88 Keys ft Kid Cudi - Wasting my Minutes
Writer: Andrew Gold - Never Let Her Slip Away
I was gonna do that Lil Rok song Mrs. Jones for this week a couple of days ago when I was thinking about what one to do. Then Mike and I started watching throwback episodes of the Fresh Prince. Carlton started playing Bobby Vinton on that episode where he falls in love with Tyra before Will snatches her:
Lol. So I thought I'd do this one instead. That, AND the fact this is before Akon (and everybody) was on their Autotune bullshit. Nice to reminisce.
Biter: Akon - Mr. Lonely
Writer: Bobby Vinton - Mr Lonely
Hope you bombers aren't lonely tonight, because it's fuckin FRIDAY! Although it really doesn't matter anymore now that I don't have a job. lol. But THATS NOT THE POINT!
I GOT MY BITCH WIT ME TONIGHT! lol.
